70's With A Twist!

Colour-blocking and juicy brights - Its all about the 70's trend for Summer! Dull fruit colours like dark lemon and nightime plum makes a great combo especially with the nude block heels to tone things down. Detailing like cute buttons, kooky collars and pleats give the simple outfit a spritz of zing! (Pssssst! I love the scallop arm's on Topshop's cute chiffon blouse!)

Makeup needs to be party ready but the outfit is totally day-to-night. For a sexy twist - tuck in the blouse for an Alexa Chung style!

The 'peace sign' necklace totally adds a more vibrant 'flower power' feel and the headpiece really adds a chic essence and swipes hair off the face - Just like the 70's girleees!

A Trip Inside The Pyramid....

Aztec is really in for Summer. Transform your wardrobe with some polished global traveller garments to really upgrade your style. While artisan fabrics and Aztec prints are a perennial favourite for beach holidays and festival goers, this season’s designers have got crafty and brought a hit of textured, boho luxury to everything from wedges to cocktail dresses.

HANDY TIP: These Aldo wedges have been seen on many celebs (As well as the All-Saints sequin dress)! Pair yours with a black tube skirt and a printed top to balance things out. Make sure though that you still carry out the Aztec style. Lots of colourful, wooden-style beads adds a super-hot tribal effect!

Crop It Real Good

If there is one trend that can put the fear into even the most experienced style maven it's the crop top. Its downfall lays in that it leaves little - or rather, nothing - to the imagination. But, the midriff featured heavily on the catwalk this season, from Jonathan Saunders’ shrunken shirts to Dolce & Gabbana's broderie anglaise cut-off camis, and with temperatures heating up it's been hitting the streets too.

Are you scared yet? Well, don’t be. There’s a chic solution to this sticky style situation and that is to mix mini with maxi. Team your cropped tee with high waisted trousers to keep belly baring to a sophisticated minimum, and add a statement necklace to draw attention to the neck rather than the erogenous zone. Pair with gauzy brogues and an animal skin clutch to polish your look.
^^MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela crop top, £70
^^Fallon silver and Swarovski crystal necklace, £310
^^Carven high waisted trousers, £165

^^Diane von Furstenburg snake embossed clutch, £230

How To Do Festival...

It’s that time of year again. We’re all digging out our tents from the back of the cupboard, dusting off our wellies and trying to decide whether we want to risk taking our favourite sandals/T-shirt/sunglasses to the hottest festival of the season where we will, inevitably, lose them.
Packing for a festival is an interesting affair. The usual rules don’t apply – where else can you blend into the crowd while wearing a feathered headdress or a bear costume? - but, fancy dress aside, you essentially want to stay warm and dry while doing your best to stay stylish.

Nude Rebel

A selection of nude, cream, tan and a hint of rebel black. This festival style ticks off the on-trend button. I love the selection of colours these people wore to Coachella - they take the rock 'n' roll trend and add bohemian streaks for a simple festival style.

All In One

Channelling this season's 1970's muse and shooting right to the top of the fashion agenda, the jumpsuit is spring's most versatile day-to-night trend and the chicest way to make the ultimate sartorial statement.

The first rule of wearing a jumpsuit is to add height. A stacked wedge equals instant leg-lengthening without the stiletto wobble. The second is to steer clear of catsuit territory and keep it loose. A skinny belt pulls any outfit together and the cinch will sharpen your silhouette. Keep things simple with minimal accessories and polish off the look with a bright lipstick.
Mulberry jumpsuit with floppy bow-back detail, £812

Zara belt with metal applique, £17.99
Diane von Furstenberg double breasted jacket, £379

Kurt Geiger 'Geisha' wedges, £195
Estée Lauder Signature Hydra Lustre Lipstick in 'Black Cherry', £18

Raoul leather shoulder bag, £135

Lady Ga-Gucci

It’s been a busy week for Lady Gaga – Cannes Film Festival, an A-list gig in London, and at least five serious costume changes, but it hasn't stopped the fashionista taking some time out to kick off her heels and give to charity. No, literally! The pop sensation has donated a pair of her limited-edition Gucci heels to raise money in the official auction for the New Zealand earthquake victims.

Gold Detailing

Gold is the new HOT colour for mid-season Spring. The sun catches the shine from the shiny gold detailing. Try not to have golden garments, try to have gold details - for me I like gold buttons and zips, jewellery looks great too. Make-up needs to have 60's vibe (to match the 60's shirt) but with a gold accent.

Do It Denim

Everyone needs a versatile cover-up in their wardrobe. And now that it’s safe to pack away our camel coats and leather bikers, the humble denim jacket is proving to be the cool-girls weapon of choice when shielding against the spring breeze.

Already proven to be a favourite of the A-list thanks the endless styling possibilities, out on the street we’ve spotted references to 90s grunge, vintage and florals. And despite fashion’s current love-affair with the 70s, the timeless denim jacket can be worn with pretty much anything and everything. Simple and easy with universal daytime appeal, it’s high time to break out the trusty staple and get some spring inspiration from these looks…
