There are definitely a few perks that come with studying Fashion Journalism in London. And often that means invites into fun, exclusive events (but sadly no free Chanel handbags...damn). On Tuesday evening, my course-mates and I were allowed special access into the Tommy Hilfiger after party, the closing show of London Fashion Week.
CAMDEN, LONDON
Having previously showcased the TOMMYNOW collection at both New York and Los Angeles, the third installment took place at The Roundhouse in Camden. The collection mixed womenswear pieces with menswear and the latest range from Gigi Hadid, all looks complete with a rockstar edge. Fittingly, The Roundhouse once played host to some of Britian's most-loved rock legends such as The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd, which no doubt was the reason for Tommy holding the rock collection here.
But sadly, the runway was kept for a-listers, celebrity models and the fashion elite. We waited outside in anticipation for the post-show performance by The Chainsmokers, and spotted our favourite celebs in the meantime.
I love the all-American style of Tommy Hilfiger, but my fashion roots are strictly fixed in London soil (watered with a sprinkling of Parisian rain for a touch of elegance...she hopes!). So in a bid to incorporate all of this into one look, I somehow ended up with a very 1980s tenue that revealed I was apparently food shopping in the morning thanks to the vintage straw bag and off to a business meeting in the afternoon thanks to the jacket.
Nonetheless, it worked together and felt very "me." And it's a well-documented fact that I love things a bit androgynous, nostalgic and chic, which this outfit aimed to encompass.
