Style Inspo: From Summer To Autumn

The transition from summer to autumn is not abrupt - long, Indian summer days are not instantly swapped with the chilly, frosty mornings and dark evenings of autumn. It's a slow transition. And one that so often confuses us with what to wear - it's too warm in the afternoon to be wearing a cosy knitted jumper, but much too cold to leave it behind in the morning. Yet, fear no more, I've put together a few snaps thanks to Pinterest to inspire your transitional wardrobe. Enjoy!

Petersham Nurseries, Richmond

Last week my family and I headed to Petersham Nurseries in Richmond, London and it was one beauty of a green-fingered Sunday. I know, if you're anything like me, you're probably thinking 'she visited a Nursery?', but alas, this noun has two definitions, and the one appropriate here is that it is a place where young plants and trees are grown for sale or planting elsewhere. Or perhaps I am the only one who did not know this!

We set out on our adventure, misty rain lingering in the air but smiles grinning from ear to ear.

While my sister had visited before, I had seen this place crop up on my Instagram feed numerous times and my burgeoning love for all things botanical (hey new blog header!) was the tipping point in making me go.

Brunch & Burberry, London

Two words that make my heart melt: brunch and Burberry. Give me a dose of good, delicious food and an incredible fashion exhibition and you've won me over. So I guess you could say last Thursday was the most perfect day for me! My friend Sarah and I headed into London to enrol at our university, but decided to make the most of our day by aimlessly exploring the city we call home.

Though one part was most certainly planned.

Brunch at Farm Girl Café.

H&M X London College of Fashion - Designing for Sustainabilty

As newbies to London College of Fashion, my friend Sarah and I popped to the flagship store of H&M down Oxford Street for the Designing for Sustainability event. Our university and H&M kicked off London Fashion Week by celebrating sustainable fashion, something LCF is so passionate about. The project involved LCF students who explored the concept of circularity, creating a fantastic womenswear capsule collection.

An Outsider's View: Burberry Prorsum 2016

It's safe to say Mario Testino's face, photographed by myself outside the grungy Soho venue, encapsulates all of the world's feelings towards last night's Burberry show. The British brand launched its long-awaited runway-to-retail model in a typical Burberry extravaganza of a show.

Set just off of Soho Square, London, in a disused warehouse - a much more London-appropriate and edgy location in comparison to the glamourous Kensington Gardens - the space was transformed into a workshop-style installation, titled Makers House. So last night, that's just where my friend Sarah and I headed to.

But first, pizza.

My sister Jess always raves about Franco Manca and I can finally understand why. The Soho branch of this chain was the hive of bustling activity for a Monday evening - large groups of friends gathered and mingled over glasses of wine, couples romanticised in the low key lighting, while others simply devoured the delicious delicacies on offer.

A Cosy Sunday

There's nothing quite like snuggling up somewhere warm and cosy on a rainy Sunday morning, is there?

I usually work on weekends but lately I've been working more during the week so I've had a bit more spare time on my hands come Saturday and Sunday. So last week, my family and I headed over to Bill's for a whopper of a Sunday brunch. Darting in and out of the rain, we were greeted with the tingling waft of creamy eggs and hearty bacon, before settling ourselves inside the lofty, warehouse interiors.

The Travel Tag

Travel, as much as fashion, is one my favourite hobbies. Be it travelling and exploring myself or jotting things down on my bucketlist for future adventurous trips. So when I saw this travel tag popping up all over the web, I had to join in myself. Without further ado, let's get to it...

The Fashion Journalism Personal Statement

I knew the minute I found out I got into London College of Fashion that I wanted to share my new experiences with you all; if I was enjoying my course, what is LCF like, was university everything I expected? But today I'm taking it back to the beginning. September is the time university hopefuls will be anxiously drafting up personal statements and tapping in UCAS details. So, if you're thinking about a career in fashion journalism, or at least wishing to study it at degree level, and have no idea what to put into your personal statement, I'm here to help. Of course, I'm absolutely in no way an expert, but I did work extremely hard on my statement and it was my golden ticket for an interview at LCF. Thus, I'd like to think I have a few tips and tricks up my sleeve on how to bag an interview for yourself. Let's get stuck in...

Pancakes and Au Revoirs, Paris

Shakespeare & Co Café
Before we knew it, our last day in Paris had crept up on us. But the adventurin' and sightseeing wasn't over just yet. We packed our bags and headed straight to Holybelly for a very un-Parisian, indulgent breakfast.

Owned by a part-French, part-Aussie couple, Holybelly is a Melbourne-style café serving up delicious, rich coffee and seasonal offerings. The food itself is very cosmopolitan - expect to find a dash of every city in one single dish. The team get together and establish the menu for the following four weeks depending on what is locally available and in season at the time.

And the promised fact of pancakes drenched in maple syrup was a good enough reason to visit.

The Silk Cami

It's a rare opportunity that I have enough time to take some snaps of my outfits (I know, excuses!), as I'm either dashing off to work, at home in lounge-wear or it's raining outside! Yet, when I quickly nabbed this silk cami number up I couldn't wait to share it with you all. And, when I'm at uni in beautiful London almost every day, with my new photography edition in tow, I'll be sure to share more ootd's on here.

Here, There and Everywhere, Paris

Our full day in Paris certainly consisted of us flitting to here, there and everywhere in a typical tourist fashion. All the Parisian bucketlist clichés were ticked off the list: from an Eiffel Tower picnic in the sun to meandering around the Jardin Des Tuileries. So without further ado, let's take a tour around the heart of Paris...

September Style Notes

While it may feel as though summer has just finally begun here in London, I for one am looking forward to sporting the deep, rich tones and layers of autumn. It certainly is my favourite season sartorially as I can endlessly wear my signature jackets and coats (you all know my obsession). So with September ushering in a new wave of trends and style, we can say 'so long' to the shoulder-bearing tops of summer and hello to the cashmere camel coats of fall. Here are your September style notes courtesy of Pinterest.
