November Wishlist...

Tomorrow marks the first day of a new month. November is always a nice time of year: Christmas is soon to be everyone's mind, the leaves turn even more orange and bonfire night (in addition of course, for you Americans across the pond, Thanksgiving). I hate the fact however, that it is the last month of autumn, then the chills of winter soon spring upon us. Autumn is my favourite month of the year and I can't believe two months of it have gone by already! Well, I guess it will be nice to welcome the new season. But for now, enjoy my November wishlist...

Tuesday Ten: October Beauty Favourites...

End-of-month favourite videos are most-loved ones to watch, I hate waiting for a whole month to see them though! On Youtube, there is a tribe of bronzer-loving, lipstick-savvy, long-eye-lashed beauty gurus that sit down at the end of every month to talk you through the products they loved in those 30 days; from Lily Pebbles to Tanya Burr to FleurDeForce. However, instead of Youtube form, I shall write about my favourites on here.

Hair:
1. Lee Stafford Argan Oil - The perfect dupe for MoroccanOil. This hydrating and nourishing hair oil is seriously under-hyped and leaves hair feeling silky and healthy. I've been using this product for about 2/3 years and won't be giving it up anytime soon.
2. Bumble&Bumble Dryspun Finish Spray - A translucent dry spray that creates instant fullness and texture to spin hair into an airy silhouette. Perfect for those craving beachy waves.
3. Kent Large Radial Brush - I've had this brush in the back of my drawer for sometime but I've been loving it this month as I've been longing for that perfect blow-dry look. It gives lustre and bounce for healthy hair. The pure natural bristle gives excellent grip for curling and shaping without damaging the hair while brushing with a natural bristle brush helps prevent split-ends, reduces static and adds volume when needed.

Skincare:
4. Origins GinZing Cream - Instantly hydrates and revs up radiance, this lightweight, oil-free, skin energy drink, fortified with legendary skin-boosters like Panax Ginseng and Coffee Bean, jumpstarts hydration levels. Lacklustre-looking skin is rapidly refreshed and revitalised to create a healthy, vibrant glow.
5. Nuxe Comforting Cleansing MilkThis Cleansing Milk gently eliminates impurities and make-up from the face, eyes and lips. A rich, smooth and comfortable texture that perfectly cleanses, removes make-up and protects the skin from dryness with a non-oily finish.Skin is left supple and comfortable.

Fragrance:
6. Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Perfume 30ml - I've been talking a lot about this perfume lately and that's why it's featuring in this! I bought it earlier in the month and I have seriously worn this everyday; it now only has about a third to go!  "A burst of deep, tart blackberry juice, blending with the freshness of just-gathered bay and brambly woods. A vibrant and verdant fragrance."

Makeup:
7. Bourjois Delice de Pourdre Bronzer in Light - If you're fair skinned like me and looking for a bronzer that isn't too orangey, muddy or dark, then look no further than Bourjois chocolate-scented bronzer. The result is a totally natural, healthy, bronzed glow.
8. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer - I have a travel size but definitely wish to buy the full version. The best foundation primer around, it creates a perfect canvas for foundation application with this silky, lightweight blend with vitamins A & E, grape seed extract and green tea. It also helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores for a velvety-smooth finish.
9. Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Translucent PowderAmazing, addictive, invisible – an oil absorbing, shine controlling face powder for all skin types.
10. M.A.C Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Chilled On IceA highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. This colour is a frosted, gold shimmery pink; I sometimes wear it alone or with a touch of Naked Lunch on top to seal it all in.

The Dream Job:

I've often talked about my dream job before; becoming a stylist or fashion designer. But recently, I had an interview at school about by future and my career, put into reality. Apparently fashion journalism is the career path I should think about going down. To be honest, I never really thought about this job option but after doing a little bit of research, I am gobsmacked at how I didn't even think about it! Being a columnist in a top fashion magazine doesn't sound too bad does it?! Although, it is a very hard career to seize. Well, I thought that some of you may be searching for your dream job too and wish to peruse the same sort of career as me; so here is some info I found out:

The Job:
A Fashion Journalist is someone who communicates fashion news, reviews and advice through magazines, newspapers, websites, TV or radio. They usually write about fashion trends, catwalk shows, street styles and/or celebrity trends (perfect!).

The Qualifications Needed:
  • A minimum of a grade C/B in gcse English
  • Possibly an A Level in English of minimum grade C
  • Possibly a gcse in Media Studies of minimum grade C
  • A degree in English, Journalism, or other fashion course
  • A love of fashion!

The Skills
  • Good organisation
  • Basic I.T skills
  • Good English
  • Identify current/ future trends
But of course, just because you have all this doesn't mean you'll just waltz your way into being the next Vogue editor. Fashion journalism is the perfect example of the phrase 'start at the bottom and work your way up the ladder'. But remember, a good blog is the way to start :)

Tuesday Ten: Check Me Out!

Alongside 'think pink', plaid is this seasons most coveted trend. I for one love the trend as I think it is very autumnal and a classic wardrobe staple. It adds texture and interest to any look. Although tartan skirts are the garment of the season, shirts and scarfs are also on everyone's lists. This look will also make a comeback is S/S'14 as it was spotted all over the catwalk, from Chanel to Balmain. Here are a few ways to wear your your checkers...

And some great high-street options (courtesy of our friend Zara):

Do you like the plaid trend? Happy Tuesday everyone, hope you are all having a great week (even if your having dreadful, cold rain like we are here in London!).

The Best Autumn Candle's...

Who doesn't love to burn a good candle when you're all snuggled up in doors all warm? The slight waft of pine trees or Christmas cake lingering in the air that makes your nose tingle. I'm currently burning Yankee Candle's Vanilla Chai which smells like what the name implies. I've also been loving these ones too...

Tuesday Ten: Cold Weather Essentials...

As always, there's no steady flow from one season to the next here in England; one day it's shorts and slinky sandals in the blistering sun and then its well...ski-wear. So here I am dressed in everything from thermal underwear to fluffy earmuffs with moisturiser slapped on like there's no tomorrow. My skin always gets a bit crazy when it suddenly gets cold and this year is no different! Hot showers, central heating and the temperature change make skin, lips and hair dehydrated and uncomfortable so I have a few products on hand to keep me in check...

Let's start off with skin. My skin always gets really dry and flaky during the cold months, making the situation even worse when I am acne prone. This makes it really hard when applying makeup but they key is to moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! To keep this in check I like to apply 1.Dr Jart Water Fuse BB Cream as this is super hydrating, dewy and glides on seamlessly, ignoring the dry, flaky skin. Also a cold weather skin essential is the 2.Trilogy Organic Rosehip Oil. Whenever my skin is feeling dry, dehydrated, congested or just generally looks dull I always apply this to ensure my skin goes back to be being bright and perky! This is also a good product for acne sufferers. Another dry-ski savoir is  3.Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins; the incredibly thick, luscious and hydrating overnight cream puts dullness to rest, while providing your skin with vitamins C, H and E.

Does anyone else's lips turn blue when they're cold? Mine sure do and it looks like I've got frostbite. To counter-act blue lips, swipe on a touch of orange-toned lipstick (which is actually very on-trend) like 4.Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti. It's also really moisturising for if you suffer from dry lips, alongside the 5.Nivea Pure Honey & Milk Lip Balm too. If you're looking for that perfect autumn scent then look no further than 6.Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay 30ml. It's fruity but warm, fresh but woody, and is deliciously addicting.

In the cold months, my frizzy, dry, wavy hair looks like I've been electrocuted, especially when that horrible in-the-air rain mists about. To combat this, I always apply a generous amount of the 7.Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Pre Shampoo. It gives a good bounce to the hair and conditions the cuticle to prevent split ends. Because this pre shampoo is amazingly moisturising, it stops all of those light, frizzy strands from flying away, which is a big bonus. The eighth product in this list is the 8.Moroccanoil Light Oil Treatment 25ml which I am sure you have all heard of. The ultra-light formula is absorbed by the hair instantly, resulting in a natural, silky finish and brilliant shine without leaving a residue. It revives, restores and hydrates hair too. Also a must-have hair product is the 9.L'oréal Ever Riche Nourishing & Taming Conditioner. Equally amazing is the shampoo but the conditioner focuses more in nourishing and hydrating the hair as to washing it. It contains botanical oils, giving your hair a super-luxe feel.

And last but not least, we need a product for our little hands right? I've always loved 10.Soap&Glory Hand Food: a super-silky, gorgeously-scented, non-greasy, hydrating hand cream featuring fennel and lotus flower extracts, which leaves your hands super smooth.

What are your cold weather essentials?

Tuesday Ten: Jackets & Coats You Need this Season...

I've already mentioned before about my obsession for shopping for jackets and coats. Of course, they are a necessity for autumn and winter (that's my excuse for trying to convince myself that I really do need that Barbour jacket). The thing that makes it difficult for us (and our purses too rather) is that there are so many versions of a particular thing, e.g. A trench coat can come in all colours, all lengths, different buttons, lapels etc. But, how do you really decide? I've narrowed it down to just ten classic jackets and coats (yes, just ten) that you need for your most stylish, chicest autumn and winter yet...

  1. Trench coat - These are all I'm seeing at the moment when I step into Zara and French Connection. I'm really liking relaxed, loose shapes this season (as in the picture above).
  2. Barbour-style jackets - Those wavy, oversized 'farmer' jackets will be your best friend come the strong chills and snowy days of winter. Pair them with super skinny jeans, a fedora and a chunky Chelsea boots a la Alexa Chung.
  3. Structured & grey - Perfect for both to the office and at the weekends. This, this and this are great options.
  4. Think pink - Pink coats are a huge must-have for autumn 2013. They are universally flattering and brightens up a dull winter's day.
  5. Your boyfriends jacket - I love these androgynous, oversized jackets that have been around for a little while now but are officially a wardrobe staple. I hear that Topshop and H&M do some purse-friendly versions.
  6. Blazers - Always the classic wardrobe staple, this season it has been updated into British heritage tweeds. Take a look at my Glossi for inspo.
  7. Classic camel - Everyone needs a coat that will go with everything and always look chic.
  8. Hello orange - Alongside pretty pink, orange is the perfect pick me-up to brighten those dreary wintery days.
  9. A-line - There's nothing better than cinching in all of those bulky layers!
  10. Anything slouchy - So often in autumn and winter, we get caught up in a bulk of chunky layers and finish the look of with a structured coat or jacket. However, sometimes it's nice to throw on something loose and slouchy.

The Autumn Tag:

Autumn is by far my favourite season; I love the leaves turning burnt orange and burgundy, salted caramel hot chocolates, chunky jumpers and Chelsea boots, oversized coats, sunny but autumnal cold days etc. Moreover, I've always said that autumn is by far the easiest season to dress for as I have a bit of compulsive disorder for buying jackets and coats (especially Zara ones). I've never done a tag before but after reading this on a blog recently I thought I would give it t a go. Tags are always fun to read and I think it's a great way to find out a bit more about the lovely bloggers out there. So, here it goes!

  1. What is you favourite thing about autumn? It's hard to just pick one thing as I pretty much love everything about autumn, but if I really do have to pick one then it would be having brisk walks all wrapped up in a cold Sunday morning.
  2. Favourite autumn drink? Ooh, it has to be my mum's salted caramel hot chocolates! Just make a regular hot chocolate, then whip a bit cream on top, drizzle some caramel and sprinkle a dash of salt too. Perfect for cosy evenings by the fire.
  3. Favourite scent/candle? I've already been burning Yankee Candle's Vanilla Chai candle, it smells so good it is indescribable!
  4. Best autumn lipstick? MAC Plumful (as the name intends, a plummy colour) but I wear my Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie all year round as it so beautiful.
  5. Go-to moisturiser? I love a rich one for autumn as my skin gets very dry, so I love Body Shop's Vitamin E cream for very dry skin. It's great one for under foundation to as its thick and not liquidy or runny.
  6. Go-to autumn eye colour? I've really been loving a shimmery grey eye look at the moment paired with a tinted red lip balm, perfect for daytime and in the evening too.
  7. Favourite band/artists to listen to? Well, this doesn't really change from season to season but I've been loving some of the chart music lately, I love the remix of Lana Del Rey's Summertime Sadness (the original is equally amazing).
  8. Favourite outfit to wear? An oversized boyish coat paired with black skinny jeans, Chelsea boots and a woolly beanie.
  9. Autumn treat? Another jacket or coat of course. Why not?
  10. Favourite place? Definitely at home! There's nothing better than having a cold day out and coming home to a warm, cosy home with the fire and candles lit and watching good TV, with of course, my mum's salted caramel hot chocolates.

What's your favourite thing about autumn? Let me know in the comments below you've done this tag and link to it so I can read it! I've loved reading this tag and really enjoyed writing this one! Hope you are all having a good weekend! Happy autumn!

Tuesday Ten: Latest Fashion Inspiration

Each season I tend to shake up my style a little bit, to keep things interesting I suppose. This is fairly similar to last week's Tuesday Ten, but that was more focused on upcoming trends whereas this is based around my style update and the inspiration I'm taking with me. I'd say its definitely got a lot more relaxed but still polished, but here it all is for you to see yourself...

What is your favourite thing about autumn? Let me know in the comments:) Happy Tuesday and hope you all are having a great week.
