10 Things to Put On Your Christmas List: Part 4: The Edgy Girl

Jacket - Acne, bag and Lipstick in Mischief - both Topshop, ring - Alexander McQueen, sneakers - Converse, headband - Urban Outfitters, kitty flats - Charlotte Olympia, perfume - Thierry Mugler 'Alien', phone case - Jack Wills, heels - Christian Louboutin
Ahhh, the final part to '10 Things to Put On Your Christmas List' posts. They seem to have been really popular with you guys, thank you! I think this 'edgy girl' was probably the hardest type to do as I am more of the 'girly girl'! However, I tried super hard to try and make it work! My idea of the edgy girl is someone who adores leather jackets and rummaging in Urban Outfitters, not afraid to stand out from the crowd in bright red studded heels or rugged converse etc. What's your description of an 'edgy girl'? Only 3 weeks until Christmas...yay! We start our advent calendars tommorow!

Spirit of the Season...

So, to really get you in the Christmas-y mood, why not indulge in lusting over some uhhhh-mazingly beautiful pictures. Not taken by me, from 'When Christmas Comes tow Town' Pinterest page! Sorry that I've been non-stop talking about Pinterest lately. Well, today, I have some rather exciting news. In February half-term, my uncle invited my mum, my sister, my nan and grandad and I to Zermatt, Switzerland. He skis all of the time, like every year, and my sister really wanted go. With his own wife and child (my aunt and cousin) not going with him this year, we decided all to go! Well, who would turn down that offer?! Anyway, click below to read more!

10 Ways to Look Younger:

We all read about anti-aging products but do they really work? Personally, I think beautiful, young-looking skin comes from looking after your skin over the years. My Nan for example, has always loved good, skincare products, eats super healthy and drinks tons of water, guess what, she has beautiful, young-looking skin. Skincare products aside, another, brilliant way to look younger is within makeup. Firstly, I would highly recommend NOT using anti-aging makeup as it can sometimes look either fake or be too harsh for the skin. It's the way you apply makeup which makes you look younger. So, here's how:

  • Lots of blush - you know that, blushing, cheeky look you had on your face when you were younger? That's what you want to recreate. So, by doing so, pinch your cheeks a little first to get the blood to the surface of the skin (making your natural flush colour come through) and then apply lots of blush where the natural flush is.
  • Thick, fuller eyebrows - There's nothing more natural and young-looking than thick, full eyebrows that haven't been messed about with or plucked too much. Think Kate Middleton, Rosie-Huntington Whiteley and Lily Collins for your browspiration.
  • Do the dew - A dewy glow, or a slight sheen on the face, looks exuberantly healthy. Matte skin looks dull, lifeless, unnatural and old. BB creams give a nice dewy glow but also, think about where you place highlighter. Never apply just to the top of cheekbones, but down the nose, under the eyes, on the brow bone, cupids bow, between your eyebrows and in the tear-duct too.
  • Glossy lips - As well as matte skin, matte lips can emphasis thinness, wrinkles and again, look dull. Don't get me wrong, I think a matte, red lip looks really cute, but glossy lips look healthier. Glossy lips look fuller, too.
  • Lipliner - You probably all know about this one, lining your lips not only makes your lipstick/gloss last longer but makes your lips look fuller too. Particularly if you use just a shade darker. But, did you know that the Queen lines her lips slightly outside to make them fuller? You do now! Try it too, it works (the Queen would know!). It makes your lips look a lot bigger.
  • Contour your cheek and temples - As you get older, your face loses elasticity and shape. Cheekbones aren't so noticeable. So contouring helps bring back the shape and natural shadows in your face.
  • Line it up - Use pencil, gel or liquid eyeliner to fake the illusion of fuller eyelashes. You probably do this anyway!
  • Drop those bags - Make sure to conceal those dreaded, hated bags underneath your eyes. Use a brightening concealer like Erase Paste by Benefit (which is uhhhhh-mazing!). Bags are a lot more visible as the years go by.
  • Perky pink - Stick to perky pink shades of pink for lipstick and/ or blush, browns and reds (on the lips!) can make you look a lot older.
  • Open wide - To widen and brighten eyes, use a white or nude eyeliner on the waterline.

Also, make sure your skin is super moisturized and hair is in good condition :) that'll knock 20 years off you!

Winter Trend #6: The Luxe Tux

Are you burnt out on your LBD? One of my favourite ways to ditch the cocktail dress for a holiday party is to go for a sleek, sophisticated tuxedo look. Not only will you be about 10 times more comfortable, but the three-piece ensemble ensures that you'll never be too hot, too cold, or too cool to hit the dance floor. Also, it can take from office to bar! If you're hoping to find more inspiration, look no further than the best celebrity style setters e.g Jennifer Lawrence, Sophia Bush and Emma Stone.
Blazer and trousers - Stella McCartney, bag - Anya Hindmarch, bra top and heels - all Topshop
Blazer and trousers - both Topshop, heels - Christian Louboutin, top - T By Alexander Wang, bag - Lanvin
Blazer - Reiss, trousers and lipstick (in secret admirer) - both Topshop, top - A.L.C, heels - Luxury Rebel

  5. The Snowman

10 Things to Put On Your Christmas List: Part 1: The Girly Girl

Hey everyone! Christmas is very, very soon so I thought it was about time I wrote another Christmas post. This '10 Things to Put On Your Christmas List' post will be split into 4 parts; The Girly/Trendy Girl; The Working Girl; The Creative Girl; The Edgy Girl. Pick a category you think you'll fit into and make sure you come back later (maybe in a  few weeks) to see ideas to put on your Christmas list. This can also work for buying gifts for your friends and family! So, this first post is for the 'girly girl'. A girl who is feminine and trendy who enjoys fashion and beauty. People call her 'the girl next door'. She takes pride in her home and enjoys salted caramel latte's in Starbucks. The general sort of feminine lady. The price range varies from cheap to expensive, so it covers every budget! Here are 10 gifts to put on your (or to give for your girly friend or family member) Christmas list...

How To Wear A Maxi Dress Through the Winter:

There are so many ways to put a Winter spin on some of your favourite Summer items. Such as wearing tights underneath your skirt or adding a polar neck to a maxi dress. Speaking of maxi dresses! Maxi dresses are surprisingly very wearable during the cold, Autumn/Winter months! So here are 3 ways to put a Winter spin on your Summer maxi...

Dress - Leaves of Grass, top - Vionnet, clutch - Anya Hindmarch, blazer  -Jack Wills, lipstick - Topshop in Hazard
Outfit created by me.

  •  The first thing to know — it doesn't matter what color or what fabric your maxi is. Even if you're working with a sheer finish or a creamy white hue, you can give your dress or skirt a more apropos seasonal twist with the other pieces you add in. For instance, if you have a sheer maxi or one with a slit, layer it up underneath with tights for added warmth.
  • The most essential part of this look is how you top it off. Because the skirt and dress can feel floaty and it odds with the weather, anchor it with weightier, warmer pieces up top. Try a leather jacket and a cashmere pullover to offset the bottom half. If your dress has a slit, make it more daytime appropriate with a covered up jacket or a sophisticated blazer. Truthfully, these maxis work like a blank canvas, style them up with sweaters, furry vests, and heavier coats to shape them into unexpectedly seasonal outfits.
  • Think of your footwear as the key to taking the look from day to night. Your footwear plays a crucial role in setting the tone for this look — with a flat, biker boot or ankle boot, this look becomes casual and daytime-accessible; with a heeled boot you can walk the line from day to night; and with a sexier ankle-strap you give the look a night-out feel.

November Wishlist:

Well, Christmas is coming very soon, so there isn't much on my shopping list this November at all. Probably only a few things I'll get this month and the rest I'll put on my Christmas list!

  1. POREfessional by Benefit - I've been eyeing this up for a while now, it's won over 7 beauty awards and I've read and heard so many good reviews about this primer. I've become very spotty lately so even though it won't heal my pesky spots, it will disguise them, plus even out my skintone, make my foundation last longer, smooth out my skin etc.
  2. L'Oreal Lumi-Magique Highlighter - It says it's a primer but most reviews I've read say it's better as a highlighter with all of the shimmer in it. At first, I thought it was gimmicky and then when I finally tried it (it's been out for nearly two years and I've only just tried it!) I was quite shocked at the difference.
  3. Topshop Leigh Jeans 'Wine' - Oh, what a cute colour for Autumn/Fall/Winter, right?! I should have bought these a long time a go, but I always thought the colour would never go with anything in my wardrobe...boy I was wrong! I can't wait to finally get my hands on these!
  4. L'Eau De Chloe Perfume - You may have noticed this on my October wishlist, yep, I never got round to getting this too. Maybe Santa will give it to me a month early :)
  5. Topshop Navy and Camel Crossbody Bag - Ooooh, this would go so nicely with my new coat and booties!
  6. Topshop Lipstick in Innocent - I'm really getting into lipsticks as of lately, I think this warm pinky-nude colour will (hopefully) really suit me.
  7. Topshop Fairisle Jumper - I tried this cute Winter-y jumper on in store and thought it would go with, well, everything!
