The unexpected accessory - nail varnish! I'm having a bit of colour craze suddenly; luckily Summer and even Spring is all about lots and lots of colour what a better way to wear that than on your nails?! It's the instant colour pop, and a great way to start for if your colour shy. I picked the top 5 most popular nail varnish brands (Essie, Revlon, Jessica, O.P.I and Topshop) to show in the picture. So, here are Summer's must-have colours...

  2. Beach Bronze (Essie - All Tied Up - £7.99)
  3. Flushes of Coral (Revlon  -  Mad About Mango - £6.49)
  4. Electric Blue (Jessica - Blue Blast - £9.75)
  5. Nude/Taupe (Topshop - Cafe Au Lait - £5.0
  6. Snow White (Jessica - Snow Cone - £9.75)

How To: The Rope Twist Bun...

It's almost Summer which means you'll need lots of ways to keep your hair off your neck. Here's one! It's a classic bun, but braided and twisted - like a rope. It's simple, quick, easy and totally chic. Here's how its done...

  1. Tie your hair up in a ponytail (with a thick elastic! Not a thin one, you'll see later) If your hair is short-medium length, I recommend a ponytail at the middle of your head, if your hair is long you can have it high or low, your call.
  2. Split your ponytail into three sections, one should be thin, the next slightly thicker and the third really thick.
  3. Braid the first section...
  4. ...then the second and third and secure with clear elastics. (I lost all of mine so I had to use ordinary hairbands in the pictures, sorry guys!)
  5. Twist the first braid round the elastic in an anti-clockwise direction (it doesn't really matter which way you twist).
  6. Bobby pin it in place.
  7. Twist the second braid in the opposite direction (over the top of the other braid) and pin it in place.
  8. Then the final braid in the original direction and pin.
  9. Spritz some hairspray and voila!

Have you tried it yet? Let me know how you found it and if you like it, I'd love to hear what you think of it!

Tuesday Ten: Bad Hair Day Fixers!

You've just got out out of bed, got dressed and then you saw your hair - which was frizzy, static, big and curly in some parts and straight in others . WHAT DO YOU DO? Use my bad hair day fixers, that's what :) I usually just do a boring o' ponytail which is just as bad really because it all flicks out then my baby hair comes through. I should really take my own advice. Here are 10 easy peasy lemon squeezy (and quick!) bad hair day fixers...

  1. Straighten/curl your hair
  2. Doughnut bun a la stewardess style (if you don't own one, check out here to get similar effect)
  3. Rope twist bun (come back later for a tutorial on how to do one, it's so easy!)
  4. Blow dry it, with cool heat - salon style!
  5. Pin the sides back (I use these clips)
  6. Half-up half-down
  7. An updo of your choice (I like this one, my hair is short-medium length)
  8. If your hair is frizzy, add some extra oil or shine spray and brush (wide tooth!)
  9. Add accessories - headbands, clips and pins but no more than two at a time
  10. If its raining, use a deep conditioning mask the night before, and then wrap into Princess Leia buns. When you  wake up, brush your hair then style as normal and then spritz with some hairspray
Or...you can just simply wash your hair again! But of course, we don't always have that kind of time. I think I'll try the rope twist bun - its great for its raining or windy and for really all occasions. Plus it looks intricate when its not! A tutorial from me on that later.

What will you be trying? I hope you all had a nice day, it was boiling hot today here in London - I think Summer's on its way finally!

Summer Trend #5: Chasing the Sun

This picture was actually taken on holiday in Florida, isn't it beautiful? Wish we had that here in rainy'old London! Anyway, the Sun has inspired many designers this season:  From Elie Saab and Jill Stuart to Peter Som, Nanette Lepore, Charlotte Ronson and Diane von Furstenburg - orange was the statement colour of the season too. While I love this bright punchy shade, I have to admit it is not the easiest color to pull off. Especially head-to-toe. So I've don it all for you, here they are:
shoes - Miu Miu, top and skirt - both Topshop, scarf - Yves Saint Laurent
Dress and shoes - both Topshop, jacket - Theory, earrings - Eddie Borgo

Bracelet - Oscar De La Renta, blouse - Vionnet, jeans - Topshop, earrings and shoes - both River Island
