MY SISTER'S 21ST - OUR DAY

On the 23rd of December, my sister Jess turned the big 21. To celebrate, we spent one day at the gorgeous 5 star hotel in Bagshot, Pennyhill Park, and a second day spent in Covent Garden for shopping, seeing Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and getting in the festive spirit. Pennyhill Park, an exclusive hotel and spa, is exquisitely beautiful. The property, first founded in 1609 was originally a house, however now it is a world-class 5 star hotel spanning 123 acres. The hotel boasts many incredible features such as a rugby and football pitch, a 9-hole golf course, jogging track, walking trails and one of the best luxury spas in the country. The spa, which could be an entire other hotel in it's size, has two Canadian hot tubs, a fitness suite, herbal saunas, a hydrotherapy pool, ice cave, kneipp hoses, laconiums, massage chairs, outdoor pool, indoor plunge pool with underwater music, steam rooms, studios, water jets...and gosh, much much more! Check the spa out here.

The hotel has seen quite a few famous faces over it's many years, including the likes of David Cameron, Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Lewis Hamilton.

After browsing and snooping round the hotel, we commenced our festive afternoon tea. I can't simply recommend this enough - everything from the delicious food, to the impeccable service and exquisite surroundings, it was all so breathtaking. Although the surroundings were very opulent and grand, and the fact that it's a five star hotel, the atmosphere was never uncomfortable or snobby.

Then it was for our lovely Covent Garden day. The sun was shining and the sky was the beautiful, crisp blue that we see so rarely come winter.

I had never seen Covent Garden so busy before - and I'm there a lot! It was packed full of bustling tourists, crazy Christmas shoppers and Christmas-a-holics who wished to do nothing more than gaze at the gorgeous festive decorations. The tree was the biggest Christmas tree I had ever seen and it was drowning beautifully in red and white lights.

Charlie and the Chocolate factory is honestly the best show I've seen too. I must confess, I haven't seen many other than Hairspray and a couple of others, however, the magical spirit and vibrant colours of this west end production had me in either a fit of giggles or a sea of tears. If you're thinking of a show to go see, you must consider this - don't be fooled by thinking it's just for children!

Merry Christmas to all of you!
