On our third day in Switzerland, we were woken up by a gentle patter of rain against the window, the crisp Swiss air blowing in and the smell of croissants lingering below us. We enjoyed a cosy morning over coffee before grabbing our shirts and raincoats and heading on out to the mountains for another day of hiking.
After catching the cable cars up to Furi, a hamlet just above Zermatt, we were greeted by some vibrant blooms, set perfectly against the gentle misty cloud.
We hiked down to Blatten for some delicious bites for setting off again. Blatten is possibly my favourite restaurant in Zermatt. Not only does it boast possibly some of the best views, with the cable cars swinging in front of you and the Matterhorn in full view, it also produces the most scrumptious food. I opted for a true Swiss speciality: Rosti with fried eggs. There simply is nothing quite so comforting and delicious.
It may of been a cloudy day, but it was warm, bright and put us in good spirits...
Time for a lil' adventurin' and we hiked down towards Zermatt, catching some beautiful vistas and scenery along the way. One thing I sure do love about a cloudy day in Zermatt is how much more vibrant, rich and lustrous the colours appear. The green in particular gleams all around, creating a very fresh, fertile and peaceful vibe (getting very spiritual here, damn).
Surrounded by so much beauty made me a little snap happy to say the least...
Back in Zermatt town, it was time to adorn ourselves in fluffy robes, ready for a cosy afternoon ahead.
A few winks were caught before we jumped up and realised it was time for dinner. We embellished ourselves in beautiful makeup, jewellery and clothes before devouring some of the best food.
It's a cliché that Swiss food is the best, but it genuinely is. There's something about every dish that is just simply delicious - it's one of the reasons we come back to this amazing country, Zermatt in particular, year after year.
