There's nothing too classic about this recent purchase of mine - a velvet, floral embroidered bomber jacket from Topshop. Yet, I know it will be in my wardrobe for a very long time, thus in my definition a classic, albeit one that I won't endlessly re-purchase season after season in varying forms.
I spotted this fun little gem nestled away in the corner of my local store, and knew instantly it belonged in my wardrobe. That said, perhaps it was the luxe, soft-to-the-touch velvet that persuaded me, or even the intricate mirrored floral embroidery that caught my eye, but I cannot deny that I love virtually every jacket/ coat out there (you should all know my obsession by now). So of course it was meant to be!
Complimenting the bomber jacket is also a new purchase (curse you, payday). I have never really had an opinion on dungarees, but I am totally aware that they are a polarised garment. For some, they believe they should strictly remain in a workman's or child's wardrobe. Yet, for others, dungarees are a wardrobe staple for their versatility and comfort factor. After snapping up a bargain of a pair yesterday, I can quite happily report that I do finally have an opinion for myself...I love them!
Like any all-in-one, be it a dress or a jumpsuit, pairings are endless and require so little thought since they can be worn simply over a t-shirt or a under light jacket. As a result, a new outfit is always at hand. Today, I opted to pair my black denim dungarees with a red stripe top, since I was working at my weekend job and therefore wanted something very casual, simple and chic (plus the top is part of my work uniform!). I completed the look with a pair of Gucci's (...kidding, you can find these here for a third of the price) and of course the jacket. To further enhance the playful 90's vibe, I carried my essentials for the day in my Longchamp backpack, also in a classic black shade.
I am wearing: Top - Cath Kidston Dungarees - New Look Shoes - Office Bomber - Topshop Bag - Longchamp |
I love that this look is chic, androgynous and playful - it's quite different from some of my usual looks but but one that I shall repeat endlessly this autumn.
Are you a fan of bomber jackets? ...ps: Happy October!
ah you look stunning! i love this jacket it's so pretty, suits the dungarees so much too, lovely outfit!
