A Shoe Story: Gothic Glamour

Black spiky t-bar heels - Topshop, gold skull heels - Alexander McQueen, Red strappy heels - Jason Wu, embellished brocade Mary Janes - Dolce & Gabbana, Glitter winged heels - Topshop

Perhaps it's Halloween enchanting everyone's gothic look? Black is the new black this Autumn (Fall) and Winter. With embellished studs, baroque style, glitter and sequins, skulls, tassels and a heel height pointy enough to be classed as a weapon! If your STILL unsure of your Halloween outfit tonight, if you own a pair of heels like these above, just simply pair them with short, pink dress and zombie makeup! Although, some of these shoes would look really pretty with a cute blouse and skinnies. This season is all about gothic glamour.

Happy Halloween!

The Perfect Hairstyle...

We all have a favourite hairstyle, be it long and straight or short and curly. Try not to drool too much over the above hairstyles ladies, but they are beautiful, aren't they?! I'm in absolute love with the whole medium length, layered, choppy, wavy, glossy, messy, thick, voluminous (you get it!) 'do. This is the look I want when I roll right out of bed of a Monday morning before school, but we all know, that's never, ever going to happen. Like ever.

Dear Alexa Chung, Millie Mackintosh, Olivia Palermo, Bella Heathcote and Jessica Alba, please chop off your hair and give it to me. Thank you.

What's your favourite hairstyle? Happy Friday everyone, hope you all have had a good week! Just under 2 months 'till Christmas!

Tuesday Ten: Old Trends Die Hard!

It’s funny looking back, sin't it? Especially on trends. At the time, fads seemed so cool that the thought of them going out of style didn't seem possible. Needless to say, as time would tell, trends die out, leaving those who once enthusiastically embraced them, are slightly embarrassed to admit they were once fans… Above are 10 of my formerly “favourite” fads from my childhood years.

1. Slap Bracelets - This are illegal in schools now!
2. Tattoo-style Chokers - Oh boy, do I remember these...
3. Roll-on Glitter - You could never have enough.
4. Best Friend Charms - I always gave my friends one of these!
5. Scrunchies - No ponytail was complete without one.
6. Butterfly clips - In all different colours, I remember having pink glitter ones.
7. Coke can tabs - No accessory was complete until it was adorned with one of these guys…
8. Brown Lipstick - One word: why?!
9. Spice Girl Inspired Footwear - I never wore these, but my mother sure did!
10. Jelly shoes - Oh, how I loved these! I had a green pair (why green, why jelly?!)

What’s an old fad you cannot believe you loved from your primary school (elementary) or tween years? Let me know in the comments box below...

Easy Autumn Decorating Ideas From Instagram...

1. Layer Your Mantel - Layer your mantel with harvest decor like wheat, branches, and pumpkins. Using a water pitcher is a great substitute for a vase.

2. Fill Up Old Jars - For easy and inexpensive decor, recycle old jars by filling them with different seasonal nuts e.g acorns, pinecones and conkers!

3. Chalk It Up! - Use your chalkboard to jot down your favorite things about Autumn such as pumpkin spice latte's and cold, muddy walks. Don't have a chalkboard? Create one in your space with a little chalkboard paint!

Hope you liked this little decor post! I haven't done a home decor post in, well, I don't know how long! I love interior design (I get it from my Nan!) and the ideas above are just fabulous - don't mind if I copy!

Winter Trend #4: Black and White Canvas

The monochrome trend always comes round in time for Winter. Everyone loves/needs a bit of monochrome. But brighten Winter up with subtle colourful details and accessories to contrast;  greens, reds, oranges and taupe. Of course, no Winter outfit is complete without something knitted so add that to your monochromatic ensemble too.
Blazer - The Row, wide-leg trousers - Reed Krakroff, jumper - Topshop, bag - Chloe, heels - YSL

Hat, dress and boots - all Topshop, bag - Mulberry
Coat - Derek Lam, shoes, jeans and top - all Topshop, bag - Jil Sander

All outfits are created by me.

How To: 'Twist It' Bun/Updo

Isn't this look stunning? Every time I wear it out I get so many compliments, particularly as it has never really been done before. This look is sort of boho-esque but it's perfect for weddings or special events. All you need is a elasticated headband (that's it!). So, here are the instructions...

  1. Brush your hair neatly, add some texturizing spray for if your hair is too smooth to give the look more hold.
  2. Place the headband forward (basically on your forehead) and push it down so your ears pop out.
  3. On the left side (or the right, your choice) take a 2" section and tuck it onto the bottom of the headband.
  4. Continue with step 3. Stop until you have done 2/3 twists.
  5. Next, alternate to the other side and again, tuck in!
  6. Once you have both of your sides completed you'll be left with a thick section at the back. Take the WHOLE of that section and tuck it in to the headband again. If any bits pop out, tuck them in! Tuck, tuck and twist!
  7. Pull the headband forward onto the front part of head so the hair is seen. Voila!

What Is Your Acne Telling You?

I always knew that the once-monthly spots that overtook my chin were the result of not-so-stable hormones. However, when my dermatologist took one look at the sudden outcrop of angry zits on my nose and asked me to get my blood pressure checked, it introduced me to a whole new (actually old) science of face mapping, which is pretty much the key to unlocking the mysteries behind problem skin. Here is how to decode the breakouts in basic areas:

  • 1 & 3: Digestive SystemEat less processed or junk food, reduce the amount of fat in your diet, step up water intake and opt for cooling things like cucumbers.
  • 2: LiverCut out the alcohol, greasy food and dairy. This is the zone where food allergies also show up first, so take a look at your ingredients. Besides all this, do 30 minutes of light exercise every day and get adequate sleep so your liver can rest.
  • 6 & 8: KidneysAnything around the eyes (including dark circles) point to dehydration. Drink up!
  • 7: Heart: Check your blood pressure. Decrease the intake of spicy or pungent food, cut down on meat and get more fresh air. Besides this, look into ways to lower cholesterol, like replacing “bad fats” with “good fats” such as Omegas 3 and 6 found in nuts, avocados, fish and flax seed. Also, since this area is chock-full of dilated pores, check that your makeup is not past its expiry date or is skin-clogging.
  • 4 & 10: KidneysAgain, drink up! And cut down on aerated drinks, coffee and alcohol as these will cause further dehydration.
  • 5 & 9: Respiratory System: Do you smoke? Have allergies? This is your problem area for both. If neither of these is the issue, don’t let your body overheat, eat more cooling foods, cut down on sugar and get more fresh air. Another thing that most of forget – dirty cell phones and pillow cases are two of the top acne culprits and this area is what they affect the most!
  • 13 & 11: Hormones: This is the signature zone for stress and hormonal changes. And while both are sometimes unavoidable, you can decrease their effect by getting adequate sleep, drinking enough water, eating leafy veggies and keeping skin scrupulously clean.
  • 12: Stomach: Step up the fibre intake, reduce the toxin overload and drink herbal teas to help with digestion.
  • 14: Illness: Zits here can be a sign that your body is fighting bacteria to avoid illness. Give it a break, take a yoga class, take a nap, take time to breathe deeply, drink plenty of water and know that everything always works out!

October Wishlist:

Sorry it's taken me like, just under 2 weeks to finally write this post but I've been wondering what to actually put on my list...and then it came to me! Ha! Here are a few things I hope to be buying very soon...

    1. Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream - I have super dry, curly, frizzy hair that needs definition, hydration and de-frizzing - I'm hoping this will do the trick.
    2. Pearl Headband - Newlook - I need one of these to do this. Simply stunning 'do.
    3. L'Eau de Chloe - Okay, so this is more of a Spring scent (well, my birthday is in Spring! Maybe that's why I like it!) because it's really light, fresh and floral but I love it anyway! Can't wait to get it!
    4. BedHead Small Talk - My Nan has used this for literally years, I remember her letting me try a bit in Florida when I was about 8 and taking a before and after picture - It did wonders for my hair all the way back then! She was talking to me about it the other day and it reminded me to get it for myself...7 and a half years later...
    5. Benefit Cosmetics How To Look the Best At Everything in 'light' - Oooooh I'm so excited for this one! The little kit includes: The Porefessional, Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation, Boi-ing concealer in 01 and 02, Hello Flawless powder. Check it out here.
    6. Bourjois blusher in Rose D'or 34 - Come these cold, Winter days - I prefer a more purple-y toned blusher and I loved the look of this in Boots!
    7. Jack Wills Cardigan - OMG, OMG ,OMG, this belongs in my wardrobe! I saw this online and tried it on in store and I loved it. It's a little pricey (£98.50) but the Jack Wills knitwear is such good quality and come on, it's cute, right?!
    8. Revlon Colourburst lipgloss in 'Hot Pink' - To complement the blusher I want.
    9. BedHead Queen for a Day Thickening Spray - My Nan influences me so much! She also spurred me on to buy this - I can't wait! :)
What's on your October wishlist? I can't believe it's 2 months and 13 days until Christmas - already?! Where did June, July and August go?! TGIF - Have a good, well-deserved weekend!
