So, What Is 'Chic' Style?

The definition of chic: Elegantly and stylishly fashionable. One may look at Emmanuelle Alt and say that the all-black outfit is the epitome of chicness. Or, one may nod at Miranda Kerr and say that the skinny jeans and fedora are just as equally chic. What I want to know (and don't we all, ladies) is what makes up 'chic' style and more importantly, how do we get it? Is it the all-black outfit and the easy nonchalance that comes with it? Or the slim figure and cigarette perched in ones hand? The latter is certainly not true, however there is a certain airiness to an all-black outfit that is in fact, chic. 

Tips for chic style:

-Stick to androgynous garments and silhouettes

-Go for all-black every once in a while (or grey or navy of your a bit scared of the all-black)

-Always channel the skinny, cigarette jean

-Cultivate your own style

-Know what colours suit you

-Stick to the Parisian ten-item wardrobe

-Buy good quality items rarely, rather than bad quality items all the time (a.k.a quality over quantity)

-Buy designer clothes then forget the label afterwards
-A good basic outfit would be a white shirt, a black oversized jacket, dark wash skinny jeans and black combat boots, accessorized with a black leather bag and a gray knit scarf.
-Take a look at Audrey Hepburn. In fashion, if something or someone is classed as 'very Audrey', its the ultimate right-hand of chic.
-Keep make-up natural. Powder, mascara and light lipstick is enough for beginners.

...and in doubt, take a trip to Paris and snoop at what all the women wear. You'll get a pretty good idea of the underlying meaning of chic style.
