Guess Who's On Holiday On Tuesday?

Me. That's who. While I'm away, I won't (and never will) blog as I am too busy (walking up the Swiss mountains!) and like to save all of my beautiful photographs until I get back, when I can properly do a photo diary of each day's activities. As usual, I'm whisking myself, and my family, to Zermatt, Switzerland for a 5-day holiday. I've been to Zermatt nearly every year since I was three, mainly in the summer although I have been several times in the winter also. It's always extremely hot there and you work up a sweat walking up and down mountains all day. What I love most about the place is that it feels like a second home for me. If there's ever a time I want to relax and de-stress, I would love to just flit off to the peaceful but lively Zermatt. The hotel we always go to is so warm and welcoming, the hikes we do every day are wonderful, the food in the mountain restaurants are equally wonderful, as are the views and the weather. I will be back to blogging soon with lots and lots of pictures to share with you all! Goodbye!

Kensington Palace Fashion Rules Exhibition (And I Saw the Royal Baby!)

Today my sister and I went on a little adventure to Kensington Palace for an exhibition called 'Fashion Rules'. The amazing exhibit consists of the Queen's dresses from the 50's, Princess Margaret's of the 60's and 70's and Princess Diana's of the 80's. All of the dresses were presented beautifully in glass cabinets while music suited to that time period tingled in the background. We arrived to Kensington Palace in full view of millions of cameras. Of course, Kensington Palace is where Prince William, Princess Kate and the new royal baby are currently staying (we actually saw them, more on this later) and so cameras were at the ready for some action. Excuse the reasonably bad photos; it was terrible lighting and we weren't allowed flash photography.

And so it was inside to the exhibition, the Queen's wardrobe were my favourite, they were mainly made by Christian Dior and embellished beautifully.

Below is my favourite dress, just imagine a beautiful woman at midnight waltzing in this dress. So stunning, Diana was a lucky woman!

After a thorough look at the exhibition and a relaxing walk around the pretty gardens, we randomly decided to take a walk at the back of Kensington Palace, where we knew the trio were staying. We arrived near the gate that they usually enter where we were approached by police to 'stay back'. Then suddenly two huge Range Rovers pulled up and slowly drove by. We were stunned at the fact that it was actually William, Kate and (finally we now know the name) George. They looked very happy and relaxed and were actually on their way to Kate's parents' house.

I thoroughly enjoyed today and really recommend the exhibition (who knows you might see the royals too!), particularly if you have a love of fashion or just generally love the royals. Take a look at the website here.

Tuesday Ten: My Favourite Kate Middleton Outfits:

As you all know (and if you don't then you must be living under a rock!) the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a boy yesterday afternoon. Kate is probably the most famous woman in the world (especially right now). One reason is that she is a very, very stylish lady. Every aspect of the Duchess of Cambridge's style has become a source of great interest to the fashion world since her engagement to Prince William in 2010Starting her life in the spotlight as a preppy student, her look quickly evolved as her status soared and the 'Kate effect' became quickly apparent; who could forget the royal blue  Issa dress  she wore to announce her engagement, that sold out within hours, or the flurry of  Reiss dresses  that kept sparking  sales surges? Now, I can't wait to see her post-pregnancy outfits! Below are my all-time favourite outfits of hers...

I love Catherine in soft pastel shades, I think they really compliment her skintone, eye and hair colour beautifully. I also love her in boxy shapes rather than her usual go-to a-line silhouette. I'm very excited to see her future outfits (particularly the ensemble she wears departing from the hospital with the new baby prince!). Congrats Kate and Wills!

Favourite Bits from Zara's 'New Collection':

I never used to be a fan of Zara. I always thought it was hugely overpriced (which I still think a bit) and a tad old for my age. However, for the last few months (well; I confess; this year so far) Zara and I have fallen for each other. Also, I have learned the Parisian way of shopping and that is to buy (somewhat expensive) quality items just every now and then, rather than bad quality items all the time. Zara is filled with beautifully ready-to-wear pieces, colourful blazers, silk, printed shorts, luxurious bags and statement jewelry, scented with a Spanish vibe. I would recommend taking a look at the blog, Lovely Pepa. Alexandra is always spotted in Zara. I visited Zara's website just a few minutes ago and thought how stunningly beautiful their new collection is. I'm not sure if it is actually for A/W'13 but judging by the colour palette, I presume so. Without further ado, let's take a look:
What do you think of Zara's new collection?

Tuesday Ten: Summer Style Inspo...

Aaaagh! Dressing for this extreme heatwave is horrible! Right now (and pretty much for the whole of July) us Londoner's are having a sticky, icky heatwave (to put it mildly). This week I've had work experience so I've had to dress smartly which is very difficult, I'd love to just wear shorts and a cami. To you American's across the pond, 28'C is probably a bit chilly but us Brits aren't use to this (plus, we do love a bit of a moan about everything and anything, especially the weather). I need some more style inspo. Inspiration for dressing in 'warm' weather...
That's better.

What To Wear With: Midi Skirts

Currently, I'm on the prowl for a midi skirt. It's probably a bit late considering the shops are getting in their autumn stock now (which I hate, it's summer so I wish to buy summer clothes, not autumn), meaning that all the skirts have been swapped for thick trousers. Well, I'm still going to look for anyway. I've had my eye on this one from Topshop (worn by Miranda Kerr), although, it's been in stock for ages and it's bound to go off the rails soon. I love it, although the price tag seems a bit hefty for what it is. Anyway, midi skirts can sometimes be a bit tricky to pair with. Here are a few street style ideas on what to team them with:

Tuesday Ten: Makeover Your Summer Beauty Bag:

My makeup never lasts in the summer. It somehow disappears somewhere else, creases like a screwed-up t-shirt and my forehead beams like a light. However, I have learnt a few tricks to keep it put and stay nice all day, such as a setting spray or using powders and waxes instead of creams (more on this later). My general 'summer makeup look' consists of radiant, bronzed, matte skin with pink, gold and brown shades throughout.  The problem is, it never lasts and by the end of the day I look like I ran a marathon in the makeup. Plus, for summer, its nice to add a pop of colour on the lips or cheeks such as a fresh orange colour or peachy shade. Here are a few tips and products to 1. keep your makeup put all day and 2. add in new products and colours suitable for summer. Click 'read more' below to well, read more!
  1. Using a makeup setting spray, such as the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, will fix your makeup in place, making it last all day long even if your skin is 'sweaty' and oily, preventing the dreaded 'makeup meltdown'.

Masters of Off-Duty Coolness...

Nothing beats style that is effortlessly cool. Miranda Kerr, Rosie H-W, Alexa Chung, Poppy Delevigne, Anja Rubik and Emmanuelle Alt are all masters of off-duty coolness. To master it yourself, think about adding an oversized bag, jackets (all different styles), cropped trousers, ankle boots and plain black stilettos to your wardrobe. Even if it actually takes you the night before to plan what your going to wear, at least it looks 'effortless'!

Hope you all had a good day today and enjoying the lovely (rare) British sunshine. Enjoy it while it lasts, speak soon!
